The last decade has seen Rudosa carve out a name for himself within the underground scene, more so since the launch of his Manchester based imprint Moments In Time. The label has grown from strength to strength by highlighting some of the newest talent around with releases from Hioll, Charlie Sparks, Chlär, DAHRYL and a huge remix from Possession resident Hadone. Rudosa will be making this debut on Unlocked BCN, and The Meaning Of Rave this July, which is soon to be followed by his next EP on his own label.
Hey Mark, thanks for speaking to us. Firstly, tell us where you are from ad how you have spent the last 12 months?
I’m good thanks, the last 12 months have been hard to be honest. At the start I did lots of things I wanted to do for a long time, created a sample pack, improved my label and made some changes to my sound but after this was done and my other business was closed down, I struggled to keep motivated. I decided to slow down releases on other labels and just focus on my label at the same time I worked on my school www.makemeadj.com building new site and improving the facilities further.
Since the UK was given a roadmap back to events I’ve been working hard in the studio preparing for my first shows back.
It sounds like productivity has been good for you, so can you tell us what we can expect to hear from you this year release wise?
Next up I have a VA release on a Barcelona based techno Imprint called Unlocked. The VA is a strong line-up of artists and my record ‘Rockerfella’ is a peak time number that I’m excited to see how it does.
Then in June/July I have an EP on The Meaning Of Rave, I’ve been excited to release on this label for some time, as I love how its run and the ethos behind it. The lead record ‘On The Loose’ has already been supported by Amelie Lens so should have a nice hype around it.
You launched your new label Moment In Time in 2020, its has some great releases, featuring a lot of new names. What release are you most proud of and why?
I think the first release is the one I’m most proud of as it was a huge success and moment for me to put out a record on my own imprint and the reaction was incredible. I’m also proud of how much its grown already and the names we are starting to get on the label. We have released a huge EP from Chlär and a monster remix from Hadone.
How do you do about choosing artists for the label?
I don’t really listen much to demos to be honest, ill often approach artists who I’ve discovered from music I’ve played on my radio show or promos I get in my inbox.
Are you very hands on when it comes to the A&R? What’s the labels ethos?
Very hands on! The records have to be perfect, I’m not afraid to give suggestions on changes. I often offer to help artists with mixdowns as I want the records to sound as perfect and timeless as possible. I know many other A&Rs aren’t willing to go to this level but if I like the artist and record why not invest time to make it perfect.
Moments In Time released a debut from Chlär’s ‘Wiring Your Emotions’ on the 18th June with a very special remix from Possession resident Hadone. Can you tell us what to expect when listening to this release?
It’s a MONSTER of a EP. Chlär is an artist I’ve been following for a long time and when he reached out about working on something for MIT I jumped at it as I knew his production style captured the ethos of the label well. Hard hitting Techno but with euphoric moments to get lost it. When we had the EP together, we started to talk about remixers Chlär is friends with Hadone so really, he made it possible for us to achieve it. It’s a release I’ve been excited about for a very long time.
What other labels are you releasing on this year?
I’ll be releasing again on Moments In Time with my ‘Passive Submission’ EP but we are yet to set a date for this. STAY TUNED!!!
Finally, can you give us an artist you can’t stop listening to right now? Wat one track can you recommend from them?
It’s not really a producer to be honest, it’s a DJ only. He is called MARRØN and I’m addicted to listening to his set’s. He is the first DJ I’ll actively go to watch as soon as show return. His sound is totally unique and the way he plays sets is fast paced but keeps he groove throughout. Defo my favourite lockdown discovery.
