Medusa Records is thrilled to announce its 5th release with tracks from label boss Michael Cignarale, ‘Dance Like Me’.
This energetic EP, ‘Dance Like Me’, features three dance tracks derived from Michael Cignarale’s endless digging of NY house and ballroom driven sounds of the early 90s and 2000s. The A-side ‘Dance Like Me’ features a distorted Michael, overtop of driving tribal house drums and a funky disco bassline that has been moving Medusa’s dancefloor since its earliest demos. The track is a big nod to Club 69 and similar thumping house tracks of the early 2000’s. The B-Side, ‘She Thinks She’s Fierce’ is a ballroom inspired track, featuring a UK funky beat and sampled vocals of queens getting chopped and read.
‘She Thinks She’s Fierce’ also features house pianos, organs and dramatic strings emblematic of Junior Vasquez’s Sound Factory Mixes of the early 90’s. There are two mixes on the B-Side, The ‘You Gotta Go Mix’ featuring full sassy vocals and a piano breakdown. As well as the ‘The Delusional Diva Dub Mix’, which is a piano driven edit, featuring more groove and less vocal.
This is Michael Cignarale’s latest solo release on Medusa Records after being named one of DJ Mag’s “Eight Emerging Artists You Need to Hear”. Finally, this release features a music video to be released at a later date with a cast full of Shanghai’s fiercest nightlife queens.
