‘Chiquilla’ is a self-released single, which fuses a deep throated vocal chant with flowing congas and melodic synth chords. It’s a dynamic release that fuses indie dance influence with Afro sounds.

Hailing from Italy, Kelly Cappuccio is an eclectic artist who produces styles ranging from techno to soulful house. She is also a skilled DJ who’s regularly found behind the decks at clubs in Naples and other locations across Italy. Her music embodies an innate ability to dazzle a dance floor, and she has released tracks on record labels such as Dirtyclub Music, VKT, Mad Circle, and 2Dutch Records.

The original mix of ‘Chiquilla’ has a percussive intro underpinned by a throbbing bassline, before the vocal is introduced alongside melodic pads. Kelly Cappuccio’s ‘Techouse Mix’ refines the percussion and condenses the track into a more compact structure. Kelly Cappuccio also provides an ‘Afrobeat Mix’ that draws additional focus to the drums and the tribal rhythms that underpin this upbeat track.

Get Physical continues to show dedication to platforming the freshest African house sounds courtesy of this latest collection from the tastemaking Thandi Draai. It has been proceeded by Thandi’s own first single ‘Letha’ alongside DJ Beekay and is the latest in a long line of releases she has been involved with. In that time, the DJ, vocalist and producer got acclaim from MistaJam as part of his Africa Week on the BBC, was previously a host on the leading radio station in Africa and continues to be a driving force in the Afro house scene.

She kicks this one off with her own collaboration with Candy Man & Cuebur feat. DJ Clock & Kitty Amor on ‘The Clique’ which is an atmospheric sound alive with tribal vocals, spiritual pads and Afro percussion. BlaQRhythm’s ‘Insimbi Yamabutho’ keeps the grooves rolling with extra depth and organic drum work then Suffocate SA calls upon the illustrious Roland Clark for ‘Africa Get Physical’ which strips things back to rubbery kicks and soft shakers lit up by cosmic melodies while Clark serves up an empowering monologue about the strength of Africa. Thandi then features in a pair of collaborative remixes that show off her knack for spine-tinging house depths, the second of which is a superb rework of Samim’s ‘Heater’, a Get Physical classic that will also be a single release. KAARGO then remixes Pezzner feat. Aquarius Heaven’s ‘We Are Not Who We Are’ into a darker late-night sound, and Thandi’s single ‘Letha’ marks the midpoint with an angelic vocal roller.

The highlights keep coming in the second half with the likes of Foozak & D.O.A, McK & Nana Atta and Tribe Of Afro all exploring nuanced Afro house that seems to come from deep within and rise up on life-affirming synths and powerful, all-conquering drums. Towards the end of this most hypnotic selection comes the dreamy and blissed-out piano work of Dylan-S & Ed-Ward, crisp and tech-infused sounds of Vidza ‘Attah’s Guidance’, then a Bun Xapa Remix of Thandi Draai & DJ Beekay’s ‘Letha’ that sends you home on an impossibly uplifting and soul-cleansing vocal house sound steeped in class.

The 18-track affair is a deep dive into their own musical output as well as a testament to their alluring DJ style.

German pair Monkey Safari have become Get Physical mainstays over the years. In 2022, they released a wealth of teaser tracks from this mix with each one showcasing a different side to their sound. After more than a decade of EPs and LPs on their own Hommage label they are still mining new musical ground and their 2021 album ‘Love Will Set U Free’ was the latest testament to that. This new mix is a further superb showcase of their signature DJ style and seductive musical output.

The mix is a broody one that takes you into a mesmeric world of classy, musical house. It is packed with originals and remixes from Monkey Safari starting with the alluring bell sounds and vocal cries of ‘Ceremony’ before moving on through the likes of their spine-tingling afro house remix of Fluida and then a lithe and airy remix of BLOND:ISH. After classy Monkey Safari material like ‘Universal Love’ and ‘W’ is a remix of George Morel’s classic ‘Let’s Groove’ that updates the tune with a fresh modern edge.

The disco depths of DJ Pierre feat. Chic Loren’s reworked classic ‘I Feel Love’ is followed by standout exclusive single ‘Hausch’ which lifts the spirits on a wave of positive synth work, upbeat drums and summery vibes that are sure to get plenty of plays this summer and beyond.
