EKDK, a duo formed by the brothers Enrique and David from Madrid, presents their new EP “African Shoebill” to be released under the new Italian label Disorder. This is their story:

“An 80000 km journey, two ripped up summers, circle ritual dances around Antartica; ancient survival rites, the miracle that hatches out after winter, an accurate glare that pierces the solid darkness, the fertile intimacy, the deep love that finds its way in a shapeless world, the birth, life stating its order in the face of entropy, the shine of a smile: EKDK.”

We present you a darker and somewhat melancholic deep house track “Pinguino” from their new EP, which takes you on a journey with a dark atmosphere, melancholic arps, which progressively evolve into happiness, with and underlying organic percussion and other elements that evoke an arctic chilly vibe. Even with a low bpm the groove will keep you moving.

“Icy ocean flows, the heat of morning mists into which rivers run, the smell of land’s deep sound and the caress of rain that makes the desert lose its brightness. Endless sunsets, thousands of dawns, hundreds of hard, coarse countenances, ephemeral breezes pretending not to reach any place, yet exploring them all. The burst of colors that precedes the blooming of life: EKDK.”

The EP also includes two remixes, whilst Astrea was in charge of “Pinguino”, Luis Leon worked on “African Shoebill”. The EP release is scheduled for January 26 under the label Disorder, grab your copy HERE.

PREMIERE: EKDK vode “Pinguino” iz mraka ka potpunoj sreći

Već smo imali priliku upoznati se sa španjolskim duom EKDK, kojeg čine braća Enrique i David iz Madrida, kada smo predstavili njihovu suradnju s producentom Apollo’s Messengers, odnosno remiks Sama Jaspersohna trake “Road To Jelly Bean” s istoimenog EP-ja.

Braća najavljuju novi EP “African Shoebill” koji izlazi pod okriljem nove talijanske etikete Disorder. Ovo je priča o EKDK:

“Putovanje od 80000 km, dva poderana ljeta, kružni ritualni plesovi oko Antartike; drevni obredi preživljavanja, čudo koje dolazi nakon zime, precizni bljesak koji se probija kroz gustu tamu, plodonosna intimnost, duboka ljubav koja pronalazi svoj put u svijetu bez oblika, rođenje, život koji utvrđuje svoj red pred očima entropije, blještavilo osmijeha: EKDK.”

S novog EP-ja vam predstavljamo pomalo mračnu i melankoličnu deep house traku “Pinguino” koja vas vodi na putovanje u EKDK prepoznatljivoj, tamnoj atmosferi i zvukovima koji vas postepeno odvode do potpune sreće. Usprkos nešto manjem broju bpm-a i organskom ritmu, riječ je o traci koja će vas potaknuti na ples. “Ledeni ocean plovi, vrućina jutarnjih magli u koje se slijevaju rijeke, miris dubokog zvuka zemlje i milovanje kiše zbog koje pustinja gubi svoj sjaj. Beskrajni zalasci sunca, tisuće zora, stotine tvrdih, hrapavih lica, kratkotrajni povjetarci koji se pretvaraju da ne uspjevaju stići nigdje, ali sva mjesta istražuju. Eksplozija boja koje prethode cvjetanju života: EKDK.”

EP dolazi s dva pripadajuće remiksa, dok je Astrea je bio zadužen za “Pingüino”, Luis Leon za “African Shoebill”, a izlazi 26.1. Svoju kopiju nabavite OVDJE.

Spaniards EKDK & Apollo’s Messengers are celebrating birth of a life with new EP. With three original tracks “Road To Jelly Bean” brings together all emotion father can feel:

Playing with your child. Giving him the blue jelly bean he likes. Picking on him with the nasty tasting pop corn one. Seeing which can eat more. “Jelly Bean”. Going to the playground and playing with your son. Swinging him on swings. Sliding down slide holding him tightly. Making him go round on the roundabout. “Round & Round”. Having the sign on you car alerting people that you have a baby, looking funny, but placing the sign with pride. “Baby on Board”. The entertaining and trivial moments a dad awaits for.

Sam Jaspersohn turns the playful progressive techno into a more evolving, darker sound with adult groove, ideal for late night hours.

PREMIERE: Sam Jaspersohn zamračio EKDK & Apollo’s Messengers

EKDK braća Enrique i David iz Madrida u suradnji s producentom Apollo’s Messengers donose novi EP “Road To Jelly Bean” koji će izdati za Dear Deer Records, odnosno podetiketu Dear Deer Black, na kojem se uz tri originalne trake nalaze i tri remiksa. Kako zvuči njihova suradnja imali smo priliku saznati ranije ove godine kada smo predstavili njihovu zajedničku traku “Denor”.

“Road to Jelly Bean” je inspiriran rođenjem djeteta drugog sina jednog od članova grupe EKDK:

Igraš se sa svojim djetetom. Daješ mu plavi gumeni bombon koji voli. Zadirkuješ ga s bombonom koji ima okus po kokicama. Da vidiš kojih može pojesti više. Gumeni bomboni. Ideš na igralište i igraš se sa svojim sinom. Ljuljaš ga na ljuljački. Spuštaš se niz tobogan držeći ga čvrsto. Vrtiš ga na vrtuljku. U krug. Na autu imaš oznaku kojom upozoravaš ljude da imaš bebu, izgleda smiješno, ali ponosno stavljaš oznaku. Beba je na palubi. Tata može očekivati zabavne i trivijalne trenutke.

Zvuk tri originalne trake možemo definirati kao zaigrani i djetinjasti funk kojeg ljube plesni podiji, a za tri zrelija, groovy, tamna remiksa istih zaslužni su Lunar Plane, The White Shadow i Sam Jaspersohn, koji radi na relaciji Los Angeles – Brooklyn, a čiji atmosferični remiks trake “Jelly Bean” i predstavljamo:

PREMIERE: Apollo’s Messengers & EKDK – Denor

The EP “Order To Madness” is a new endeavor by two mysterious Spanish deep/tech acts Apollo’s Messengers & EKDK. The name of the release suggests an invertion of the ancient Latin phrase ordo ab chao, therefore reflecting the ancient unsolvable paradox of a human soul. Its platform is the new label called iLogic, which assumes the task to “explore the intersections between technology, art and electronic music” and “support the creative process of emerging artists contributing a high added value to their creations”. The entire release is marked by the play of light and shadow, yet here we’ll focus on one particular track, called “Denor“.

Despite the somewhat classic deep / techno aesthetic, pretty soon into the track one can sense that there’s something hiding behind the somber gothic pads and the clanging percussions. It’s not about a particular sound or the arrangement, but some haunting presence is certainly hanging above this dramatic tale. Halfway through the track, a soft bassline emerges to calmly collect the energy produced by the preceding tension. It’s a long yet satisfying journey which provides the DJ an opportunity for extended cross-mixing of the tracks and adding some dark, emotional spice to the dancefloor.

The EP contains another original track called “Hysteria“, which is slightly more upbeat, and its two remixes – one by Erly Tepshi, which is quite lyrical, and one by Against The Time, which provides some twisted industrial techno flavors. “Order To Madness” is about to be released March 31st, courtesy of iLogic.
