Submarine Vibes, a Sarajevo-based deep house label run by Hibrid, is presenting the ‘Lodwar’ EP from Schörmann.

Schörmann is a Plymouth based DJ and producer who has published his original music under Suprematic Sound, ThreeRecords and Submarine Vibes.

‘Lodwar’ EP consists of two original mixes ‘Rise Alone’ and ‘Lodwar’, and a remix from MockBeat.

We are presenting a melodic house and techno track ‘Lodwar’.

PREMIERE: Lessovsky & Max Vertigo – Mistakes (Cliff De Zoete Remix)

Ukrainian producer Lessovsky was raised on a steady diet of cosmic sounds by Jean-Michel Jarre and the cult french electro/disco band Space, while his contemporary productions reflect the finely tuned deep house aesthetics combined with velvet funk and nu soul elements, decorated with melancholic melodies. His career started around 2004. but only throughout 2013. a more serious period of creativity ensued, with frequent tours using his current stage name. He’s just about to release a fresh EP on Submarine Vibes, caled “Mistakes“, while the vocal duties were taken by Max Vertigo. This talented Russian singer and producer already contributed to many tracks by disco house producers such as Diggo & Dizza, Aytac Kart or Dance Bridge, while his characteristic signature seal is engraved deeply in the title track of this release. Today we listen to a version of this cut remixed by the melodic techno producer from Netherlands, Cliff De Zoete:

Soft and juicy disco kick sets the scene, just to slide into the deep house zone. A fat analog bassline will take over the deeper registers of the PA, all the while providing a soft cushion to massage your hips on the dancefloor. A pulsating synth triplet uses will hook you in and drive you towards the emotional vocals soaring, soaring to spill over with emotion. To circumvent the dramatics, De Zoete treats the vocals with some strategic cuts and processing, giving them a slightly psychedelic feel, not without humor. The twirling of these vocal samples adds to the funkiness of the track, also providing the balance when contrasted with the increasingly emotional melody. A crystalline track that will stand out in the set with its complex narrative, psychoactive basses and captivating harmonic hooks.

The original mix seems to be more on the poppy side, with a potential for hitting the charts, which can also be said for the somewhat darker, yet slick exercise in deep funk, named “The Stranger“. MockBeat takes the track deeper underground, laying the focus on a strange rhythm, but seasoned with the irresistible “music box” melodies.

PREMIERE: MockBeat & Fec “Stories Told” dobio emotivni Rauschhaus remiks

Meksički autor profinjenih i tamnih struja deep zvuka Fec nam nije stranac – već smo imali zadovoljstvo predstaviti remiks njegove trake “Coward“, koju je u aristokratsko-gotičkoj atmosferi zamislio i izveo talijanski underground čarobnjak Erly Tepshi. Danas ćemo se pozabaviti njegovom suradnjom s još jednim deep/tech talentom, a riječ je u britanskom autoru imenom MockBeat. Njih dvojica upravo spremaju EP “Stories Told” za sarajevsku etiketu Submarine Vibes, već dobro poznatu po istančanom ukusu u odabiru fino brušenih melodičnih izdanja. Naslovnu traku s EP-a remiksirala su dvojica autora: jedan je nizozemski protagonist novog vala melodičnog techna Mohn, a drugi je još jedan naš znanac – njemački producent Rauschhaus, koji krstari hibridnim strujama deep/tech, minimal i progressive zvuka, s izrazito istaknutim autorskim pečatom, čiji smo izraženi karakter imali prilike poslušati u autorskoj “Afraid Of Us”. Pozabavit ćemo se upravo njegovom vizijom trake:

Slast gumenog kicka i nebeske melodije okupane u reverbu u samom startu biva dodatno začinjena emotivnim, odjekujućim vokalom. Iako nepobitna moć groovea vozi traku klupskim vodama, kompleksna kompozicija i vokalna dionica otkrivaju da se ne radi samo o “traci” ili “DJ alatu”, već o pravoj pjesmi. Način na koji dodiruje ova skladba receptore za melankolične podražaje izrazito podsjeća na estetiku kakvu je koristio Moby u trakama poput “Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad” – možda ne toliko vezano uz samu melodiju ili žanr, ali svakako u pristupu i osobnom dodiru kojim ova stvar obiluje. Naravno, ima tu materijala i za one koji se ne namjeravaju pretjerano emotivno otvarati dok su na podiju – pulsirajuća bas-linija vozi dok se mekane synth orkestracije presvlače preko ritma bacajući osmijeh na lice. Dinamika trake je izvedena zanatski idealno, sa sjajno tempiranim “usponima” i “padovima”, pa će svakako izazvati akciju u klubu – ako se netko pronađe u otpjevanim stihovima, vjerojatno i više od toga.

Originalni miks trake počinje gotovo industrijski, ali glatko isproducirano, Ipak, unatoč sočnom i moćnom zvuku ritam sekcije, prednost uskoro preuzimaju kozmičke igre progressive aranžmana i topao, dubok zvuk koji ugodno bruji u prsima. Mohn je, opet, pristupio nešto minimalističnije i koristio retro zvuk ispeglan prema zahtjevima suvremenih razglasa. U retro maniri je i sjajno izveden prijelaz kojim diže napetost, da bi se intenzivno vratio u hipnotički ritam. Ukratko, sve su tri varijante izvanredno oružje za melodične setove, samo svaka ima svoju namjenu i mjesto u njima.
