Lilia brings brand new inspirations to her sounds which fuse house and techno with plenty of cultural references. From big and bouncy to deep or tribal, she can do it all and has displayed her skills at parties like Elrow, clubs around the world and now with this adventurous new EP on Lee Ann Roberts‘ increasingly vital label.

Kicking off is the powerful ‘The Voyeur’, with spangled synths that bring real dynamism to the straight-ahead techno beats and rugged bass. It is physical but warm and the lithe synth work sounds relayed from the future. ‘Vesuvius’ then cuts loose on a flat-footed, hard edge techno rhythm, with industrial textures and distorted synths taking you to the next level.

‘Muscat’ is an unrelenting banger with lashings of laser-like synth spreading about the mix as chopped-up Indian vocals cut in and out. It’s pure rave energy for vast warehouse spaces. Soraä’s remix is big and bulky, with ghoulish synths and vast, rolling bass that never quits. It’s a wall of impenetrable sound that will lock in any crowd.

It has taken her to the top end ...]]> After a breakout in 2021, Lee Ann Roberts reasserts herself with a big new single ‘March Of The White Fireflies’ on NowNow Records featuring remixes from Frazi.er, Charlie Sparks and Jacidorex.

South African-born, Amsterdam-based Lee Ann Roberts served up plenty of fresh techno in the last 12 months. It has taken her to the top end of the Beatport Hard Techno chart and to labels like Octopus Warehouse Series as well as her own NowNow Records. Fans of her tough sounds include Charlotte de Witte and Ken Ishii, while Lee Ann herself has played festivals like Caprices and BPM. Now she kicks off a new year in thrilling fashion.

We are presenting a remix from Charlie Sparks, an up-and-coming young artist notorious for his high energy sounds on labels such as NineTimesNine, COUP and Märked. His remix adds a little swing to the drums, but there is no less urgency in the synths. The scuffed-up kicks bring texture while the pulsing sonar pads add a sense of intergalactic space travel as lashings of acid light up the whole track.

She ...]]> Lee Ann Roberts continues to prove why she is one of techno’s brightest new stars with a superb new single ‘Reality Bytes’. It comes on her own fledgling NowNow Records label with remixes from Félicie and Balrog.

South African-born, Amsterdam-based Lee Ann Roberts makes off-grid techno inspired by a rich array of cultures and communities. She debuted only last year on Suara and immediately hit the number 2 spot on the Beatport Hard Techno chart, then followed it up with more on Octopus Warehouse Series. Her hard-edged and unrelenting sound also carries over to the decks and has seen her play events in North America, Europe and South Africa.

Lee Ann’s excellent ‘Reality Bytes’ is a dark, paranoid techno banger. The cantering drums kick like a mule while razor-sharp hi-hats cut up the groove. Loopy vocals repeat the title while further freaky FX add to the intensity of this bold and muscular warehouse techno classic.

We are presenting the remix from Balrog, a techno producer from the Yorkshire Dales who has released on BLOK, Arcane and Otomo Trax. His take on ‘Reality Bytes’ is another blistering one that is dense with drum power, caustic synth patterns and driving energy that will blow the roof off any club.

South African born, Amsterdam based Lee Ann Roberts, the DJ, producer and NowNow Records founder is championing “off the grid techno”, music that is inspired by a melting pot of communities and cultures. Bursting onto the techno scene in 2020 with her debut release on Spanish label Suara, ‘Miyamoto’ charted at number 2 on Beatport’s Hard Techno genre. Passionate and disciplined, Lee Ann is creating a real presence in the scene with her unrelenting sound and a desire to create a community that knows no prejudice.

Lee Ann is also a keen philanthropist and recently became an ambassador for MAAC (Music Against Animal Cruelty). With a desire to bring awareness around the plight of wildlife that is being threatened due to human destruction, she is using her voice for those who don’t have one. Lee Ann has lived a rich, multicultural experience and throughout the years has taken inspiration from the Jimi Hendrix era of psychedelic rock through to the grunge era of Nirvana while staying grounded in her native African roots. The result of this unique blend has given birth to her signature techno sound that takes you on a vibrant journey, inviting you to taste soundbites from the past, present and future.

We are presenting ‘I Want You’ remix from Dense & Pika, a London-based British duo composed of Hypercolour label boss Alex Jones, and Chris Spero, better known to many by his Glimpse alias. They have published their original music under many labels including Hotflush Recordings, Drumcode and their own Kneaded Pains.
