Sci-fi anime obsessive Reagan has made an immediate mark since setting out on a solo mission once his Dance Spirit duo disbanded. His own Void Space Institute has been home to his high concept sounds which mix up techno, electro, IDM and plenty more into utterly unique and thrilling new musical worlds. After a series of singles and EPs he returns to explore a multitude of more pensive styles with a smattering of thoughtful vocal pieces.

Explains the artist of this new work, “On this EP cover we find our fully grown chimera nanodaptogen from the CTEN experiments on Island 33 in a scene where he’s just broken out of the abandoned underground facilities after being stuck for thousands of years alone in solitude. Freed by a man named Eon Æytheon, he dedicated his life to helping this mysterious adventurer, the first being to ever show it kindness, and help uncover the wild mysteries behind the universe they live in. Upon seeing the ocean and sunset for the first time, he gazes in wild wonder. Having only known infinity to exist in the lonely confines of his growth tank, this new scene showed him a new world of infinity consisting of hope, beauty, and desire.”

This collection opens with the soul-soothing and cinematic ambiance of ‘TRANSHUMAN AGENDA’. Gorgeous pads and soft melodies drift over gentle rhythms to transplant you to a future world. There is more exquisite synth design on ‘simp4u’ as well as supple bass and skittish drum patterns. As they float amongst the stars, airy vocals add human soul. The fantastic ‘Save Point’ layers twinkling keys and bubbling synth sounds into suspensory ambient bliss and ‘Revelations’ then hypnotises over seven minutes of widescreen downtempo magic. The smeared pads, meandering bass and rippling chords are finished with more zoned-out vocal sounds.

The trip takes a turn into freeform jazz sounds and off-grid beats on ‘ʍօօռ Ɖʀɨք’ which is a woozy, lilting cut that conveys a sense of futuristic romance. The 303-laced ‘Birds On Acid Lake’ then heads off into deep space and pulsing techno territory with warm, powerful drums and last of all ‘æ y t h e r ▁ ▂ ▄ β Ξ λ Ͼ Ϛ Η’ feat. Dina Moursi is another stylish post-rave comedown with scintillating drum patterns and heart-melting vocals.

This is a spellbinding collection from the unique and hyperactive mind of Robotek Reagan.

Robotek Reagan established himself as one half of the now-disbanded Superfreq duo Dance Spirit. Now he is moving things on with this new label. It is a multi-media outlet that draws on years of playing clubs like fabric London and festivals like Coachella, Desert Hearts and Piknic Electronik. ‘Taste My Lick’ is a new EP and was the first in a series of new studio experimentations cooked up in the artist’s new creative space in Los Angeles after he moved away from the quiet of Lake Tahoe. After an impressive first single from it, the newly invigorated artist now serves up the full offering.

The experimental and cinematic ‘(Can You) Taste My Lick’ opens with beautiful sci-fi keys and pulsing synths. Flurries of freeform drum breaks and modulated textures then take over and start to journey through the cosmos. ‘Whisper’ continues down an innovative path, with IDM melodies scurrying about the mix over loopy drums and lumpy rhythms. It’s a track that glistens with light as spoken word samples and digital bleeps colour the airwaves.

With ‘Void Kiss’, otherworldly melody and celestial synths warp and wave around one another over fractured drums. It’s braindance music that sounds like it has been made by AI, such is its futuristic intent. The last mind-melting workout is ‘I’m Never Lonely Without My Telepathic Darling’, which has paranoid vocal whispers panning about the stereo field. It is another off-grid, utterly unique and nebulous cloud of bursting rhythms, scattered claps and bleeping synths that soundtracks an alien planet.

Void Space Institute is Robotek Reagan’s own new multimedia outlet. It comes after establishing himself as one half of the now-disbanded Superfreq duo Dance Spirit and years of headlining the likes of fabric London, clubs in NYC and festivals like Coachella, Desert Hearts and Piknic Electronik. ‘Taste My Lick’ was the first in a series of new studio experimentations back in summer 2021. They are the first productions from the artist’s new creative space back in Los Angeles away from the peaceful and secluded forest settings of Lake Tahoe.

“The change of scenery and pace was a massive shock to my system, trying to navigate a cacophony of clashing moods, energies, and sounds while trying to make sense of how to reintegrate into my new surroundings, unsure of my future, while working towards peace with a life past lived. As such, venturing out on this brave adventure into the unknown led to creative chaos and viscous lumps of thoughts combining and splitting like the liquid in a lava lamp. The energy of these life experiences found themselves transmuted into the moment in the studio, as reality decrees, Taste My Lick.” says Robotek Reagan

‘Taste My Lick’ is a super fresh new single that builds anticipation for the full ‘(Can You) Taste My Lick’ EP to come, and it comes with two remixes for different dance floor moods, ‘Four The Floor Patch’ and ‘Access The Soul Upgrade’.

We are presenting ‘Taste My Lick’ (Access The Soul Upgrade) which sits between minimal and deep house and brings the song into a deeper, transcendent realm. The mood is hopeful and beautiful, opening a portal to the heart so dancers can access their soul and enjoy a smoother, more enjoyable ride. This is one that will make an emotional impact on the crowd.
