PREMIERE: Jiminy Hop - Playground (Ilya Gerus Remix)

Jiminy Hop is a young talented Russian displaying a quite developed taste in deep/progressive streams of contemporary club music. With releases on labels like Suffused Music, Shambala, Inmost Records etc., he already managed to carve his artistic signature, delivering rhytmic backbones in finely polished electronic funk, rounded with lush, emotional arrangements. For his next release on Majestic Family Records, four remixers took the challenge of remixing his track “Playground” from the “Hypnotic” EP, among whom is his fellow Russian Ilya Gerus, a sonic brother in progressive harmonies.

Ilya eschewed the open funk of the original mix in favor of the more ethereal and subtle approach. From the velvety atmospheric entrance and the soft thumping of the kick to the beautiful melody of the main theme, the power of the track lies in it’s dreamy, netherworld poetry. Just like having an epiphany during a casual walk by the frozen lake, the listener is transferred to a place outside the mundane reality of everyday obligations. It’s bound to have the same effect on the dancefloor, where it will slowly capture the bodies and minds of the dancers, taking them softly to the zone.
