Being part of the electronic music scene for 25 years, Can Tanca aka cantanca is a distinctive music selector and a proud owner of an impressive collection of 15,000 vinyls which he’s been collecting since the age of 12. He defines himself as a lover of “all kinds of cutting edge – non commercial music”, and defines his job as a combination of selection and mixing with the sole goal of “making surprises and finding the right track for the audience when playing.”
Starting his musical path by working at radio stations, today cantanca can boast about being the founder of three radio stations – Lounge FM, Radio FG and Radio Oxi-Gen that all have the same philosophy – “to create trends rather than to follow them.”
The uncompromising Turkish selector is a host for two radio shows, “Cool Sessions” since 1994 which exclusively emits downtempo music for last few years, and “Daydreaming” since 2000 with a prominent deep house character. He hosts guests with whom he shares the same musical taste.
Can, who’s also the director of ChillOut Festival, Electronica Festival and Urban Festival Turkey, adds: “Basically, we’re far ahead of today’s mainstream music, we offer tomorrow’s mainstream today.” It’s rather curious that partygoers from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia are frequent guests of his festivals.
For the occasion of 123rd Klubikon Podcast, cantanca presents “a different musical aspect” delivering “a mid tempo – multicultural set unlike many sets featured at Klubikon.”
