James Welsh has been firing out certified dance bangers for what seems like eons. Delivered with the maturity and finesse that has made him a regular artist on labels like Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound, Hypercolour, Hotflush, Futureboogie, and of course, Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains, Welsh tees up two tracks on the ‘Man & Minion’ single.
The title track straddles the fence of slammin’ house and rolling techno, squeezing a familiar disco vocal line into a bustling and hard-hitting groove. Similarly, ‘Big Lanyard’ delivers the bassline funk and swing typical of those deeper four to the floor moments, but with the stabby punch and intensity of a big room belter.
