After a great year with single releases from Mannix, D.C. LaRue, Paris Cesvette and more, Dafia Records’ final single for 2024 comes courtesy of up-and-coming Portuguese-British singer-songwriter Maya Blandy, with a shimmering floor filler produced by Jake Wherry of The Herbaliser titled, ‘Disco Nights’. The release includes remixes from OPOLOPO and label boss Mannix.
Maya Blandy is a young Portuguese-British singer-songwriter who blends the sounds of disco, soul and jazz . Maya has been collaborating with Jake Wherry, a founding member and producer of UK hip-hop pioneers The Herbaliser, since 2021. Their first release ‘Stardust’, featuring legendary Kathy Brown received plays on BBC Radio 6 – both The Huey Show and Craig Charles’s Funk & Soul Show – and many more. Since then, they have released the ‘Stardust’ album with an incredible variety of sound and style from old school disco to jazz and RnB. Recently, Maya released her first Portuguese single, ‘Calor’, which has received attention from major radio and television in Portugal. Maya continues to build her Portuguese project, fusing both her Portuguese and English styles, drawing on her jazz and soul influences, whilst adding the romantic folklore of Portuguese music, some exciting new music forthcoming in 2025.
Kicking off this party-season-ready package, Swedish maestro OPOLOPO brings his smooth funky flavas with a groovilicious mix, plumped with jazzy brass melodies and signature key wizardry that flows beautifully around Maya Blandy’s catchy vocals. Dafia boss Mannix injects a funky live bass groove, discofied guitar licks and piano melodies on his vibrant mix, propelling the song into the Disco House arena. Along with some playful dubs from OPOLOPO and Mannix, the package also features the irresistible downtempo soulful and jazzy vibes of Maya & Jake Wherry’s outstanding original song.
We are presenting OPOLOPO’s remix.
‘Disco Nights’ EP will be available after the 13th of December HERE.
