Ben Evers drops his fourth single, ‘FM Never Hurts’, on his essential Eternal Sunshine label, with Robert Johnson resident Maruwa delivering a standout remix.
Ben Evers was one of 2024’s standout artists. He launched this label with three brilliant releases and also dropped more of his signature grooves on Live At Robert Johnson. That work helped mark him out as a solo artist with plenty to say as he continues working as one-half of the underground duo Adana T wins. His sounds cross the house spectrum and have also come on the likes of Permanent Vacation and Correspondant.
The new single ‘FM Never Hurts’ is a full-flavoured house track with a hint of old-school rawness and dusty breakbeats in the breakdown. Rapped vocals ride rough and ready over the pumping electronic drums with trance-tinged melodies shining bright up top. It’s a characterful cut that is packed with irresistible bounce and vibrant sound designs.
German remixer Maruwa is a genre-fluid DJ and producer who plays across multiple different styles. Her releases have come on labels like Steel City Dance Discs and X-Kalay, and she is a favourite at cult clubs like Panorama Bar and is a resident at Robert Johnson club. Her remix of the ‘FM Never Hurts’ brings vibrant synth colours and trance-infused pads. The drums are bumpy, and the whole track is alive with melodic energy and feel-good pads that will light up any club.
