PREMIERE: Jacopo Susini – Detroit 89

Italian DJ and producer Jacopo Susini debuts on Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD with ‘Detroit 89’ three-tracker.

Jacopo Susini has been active since 2009, his music landing on labels like Break New Soil, On Edge Society, KD Raw, Global Underground, and JAM, all while picking up props from tastemakers such as Richie Hawtin, Truncate and Pan-Pot.

Nicole Moudaber launched MOOD Records in 2013, and for over a decade, it has accompanied her award-winning weekly InTheMood radio show. MOOD has become a haven for top-end DJs and producers and a home for emerging talent to flourish, championing artists such as Ida Engberg, Risa Taniguchi, Carlo Lio, Pig&Dan, Dense & Pika, Juliet Fox, and The Southern.

Inspired by Motor City sounds, the title track ‘Detroit 89’ surges with machine soul via its upright, punchy drum funk. Its filters solve complex patterns as its relentless percussion keeps the dancers nailed to the floor. ‘Remember’ then puts the pressure up with hurried loops that tumble over themselves, dark vocals and sonar-like blips adding to the intensity of this peak-time dancefloor offering. Last up, ‘That Is’ sees Susini bring more spirited Techno with well-laid-out stabs and jacked-up drums that won’t fail to keep the floor entranced.

We are presenting the title track ‘Detroit 89’.
