PREMIERE: BEKEFI – Ascend

Hungarian DJ and producer BEKEFI launches her own queer label and event series SOAK with ‘ALSO ME’ EP.

Inspired by a three-month stay in Ibiza, comes the launch of SOAK, a queer party and record label launched at London’s Basing House. BEKEFI, the artist behind the project, unveils its label division with an EP titled ‘ALSO ME’. Split across three three-track drops, each offering three versions of the same track, the Hungarian-born, London-based artist readies ‘Ascend’, ‘Trip’, and ‘Party People’ for release between March and May.

Native Hungarian, BEKEFI, now London-based, blends acid, house, techno, and breakbeat influences in the ‘Also Me’ EP for SOAK’s label debut. The release invites listeners to explore the emotional, abstract, and experimental side of her music. Rather than chasing the perfect dance floor anthem, they focus on raw, unfiltered expression—immediate and authentic. This approach symbolizes the fluidity of the songs themselves, allowing for varied interpretations and emotional connections. Through SOAK, BEKEFI seeks to create music that isn’t confined to expectations. It’s about letting go, feeling deeply, and allowing the music to evolve on its own—just as the process of making it has.

“The name SOAK is derived from ‘KAOS’ spelled backwards—a nod to experimental soundscapes, freedom, and rebellion. For BEKEFI, it represents a deliberate step away from traditional dancefloor music, focusing on honesty and authenticity instead of genre constraints or commercial success. SOAK is a space to explore the tension between order and chaos, pushing boundaries in sound and intent.” – SOAK
