Along with the exclusive premiere, we spoke with DSC7 about her new techno track ‘Doll Dreams’, taken from the upcoming ‘Papilio Bachus’ VA compilation, out May 30th on Mozaix.
In this chapter, Mozaix hands the stage entirely to FLINTA artists—Insolate, Pert, Lucyd, GLIA, DSC7, CHEKA, L.ILLØ, and Sarica&Sub.Vision—those too often underrepresented in electronic music, proving that mastery, depth, and innovation know no gender. Consisting of eight tracks, ‘Papilio Bachus’ VA compilation flows through hypnotic textures, raw grooves, and bold sonic statements, each track a wingbeat in a collective flight toward visibility and liberation.
Listen to the exclusive premiere of DCS7’s ‘Doll Dreams’ and read what she says about the track.
What inspired the concept behind ‘Doll Dreams’?
I wanted to create a track with a sequence that would reinforce the moments of tension throughout the structure from beginning to end. For this track I was searching for a more tribal and also deep raw kind of sound.
What story or feeling does the title evoke for you?
About the title I always just came up with something that goes with the track vibes, so ‘Doll Dreams’ for me evokes the kind of feeling we have when we dream with these weird scenarios, kind of futuristic landscapes, that you wake up but want to fall asleep again to keep dreaming.
Any key influences—musical, visual, emotional?
I’ve been doing a lot of music the past year and also listening a lot of different producers and labels that I really love, so I could say influences come not from an specific artist or label but from many of them.I realize that raw sounds and rhythmic elements come more naturally to me and I will keep working on that direction from now on.
How did the creative process differ from your past work?
Nowadays I start working from this simple question which is “what do I want this track to make me feel, either energetic or introspective or emotional, even sexy? so it is easier for me to stay conscious when I’m working on it; I used to spend a lot of time diving into many different ideas and ended up on something that I didn’t really quite like at the end.
Any unique techniques or approaches used in production?
I find vocals really interesting to work with. I use them in almost every track I make. Sometimes they play a more prominent role, and sometimes I use them as a rhythmic tool or FX to make the track feel deeper or even to build another layer. Is useful and I enjoy processing them to see what the “final” sound will be.
What do you hope listeners feel or take away from this release?
For sure what I want from the listeners is for them to enjoy the track and to dance to it.
