Daniel Stacks and Jake Bleu bring the heat to Lee Foss’ revered label South Of Saturn with the collaborative three-track EP, ‘Ayer’.
Hailing from the Windy City, Daniel Stacks brings the raw edge and grit of his hometown to his music. Known for bold drums and ear-catching samples, his sets and productions have taken him across the US and as far as Australia. Here, he links up with Louisville-based talent Jake Bleu, a budding DJ and producer with credits on labels like Repopulate Mars and This Ain’t Bristol, for a standout debut on Lee Foss’ South Of Saturn with their collaborative ‘Ayer’ EP.
“After collaborating on our first track a few months before ‘Ayer’, we discovered we both worked well together and had a similar sound and style. We were heavily inspired by a lot of the faster, percussive tracks being played out by artists like Cloonee, Marco Carola, Wade and others. Once we discovered the sample, we knew we had a chance to make something cool. South of Saturn has been a major goal of ours since each of us started producing. This release is very special to us and is a huge milestone we will not forget.” – Jake Bleu.
Opening with the collaborative ‘Ayer’, Stacks and Bleu combine kinetic drums and bass-heavy grooves with familiar rapped vocals that inject undeniable stepwise attitude and club energy. Next up, Bleu flies solo on ‘Butterfly’, a high-octane roller that merges filtered trap-style vocals with stripped-back percussion and a pulsing minimal-leaning backbone. Stacks then closes out the package with ‘Speed Up’ – a lush deep tech gem where falsetto vox samples, breezy synths and rolling drum funk come together in a warm, soulful closer that will sweep dancers off their feet.
We are presenting ‘Speed Up’ by Daniel Stacks.
