Dorian Duvall debuts new alias Eight In The Room on Brooklyn’s toucan sounds.
Eight In The Room is the new alias of Dorian Duvall, debuting with the eponymous ‘Eight In The Room’ EP—seven rave-laced house tracks landing on toucan sounds. Opener ‘Viva’ kicks things off with writhing basslines and jostling broken beats, demanding a physical response, while elegant chords lend emotional depth. ‘Lovely’ follows with a slick blend of pressurised low-end and bubbly bass, lit up by colourful, soulful synths. On ‘Imagine’, scuffed-up kicks and organic percussion float through cosmic synths and subtly layered vocals, creating a spacious, human energy.
Elsewhere, ‘Panda’ delivers a late-night fusion of warm bass and airy, futuristic synths, while ‘Bought & Soul’d’ is a hands-in-the-air moment of piano-streaked, breakbeat-powered joy. ‘Up & Up’ channels UK club heritage through lithe, darting basslines and neon-hued melodies, while closing cut ‘Fun’ hits with grimy vocals, punchy drum programming, and urgent sirens—a final rush through the city at midnight.
Duvall’s musical path has taken many turns. They first emerged as Onuinu, blending dream pop with synth wave, then shifted toward darker, rock-inflected textures under the Mirror Gazer alias. A move to New York’s club scene introduced a grittier, percussion-heavy sound. Now based in Mexico, Duvall launches Eight In The Room—a bold new chapter that channels years of reinvention into raw, emotionally charged, forward-facing productions.
We are presenting ‘Lovely’.
