Australia’s Motive Records give Sonic Soul Orchestra and Daniel Thomas’ recent smash, ‘Wake Up’, a brilliant make-over, enlisting the remix talents of UK producer Risk Assessment and Italy’s Raffaele Ciavolino, who each put their own unique stamp on the song.
Sonic Soul Orchestra (aka JP Firmin) is an English DJ and producer based in London and Los Angeles. He started his own label Interstate Records back in early 1990, along with running his own club nights, which led him to become a booking agent for NY’s DJ Disciple, Dave Camacho and legendary vocalist Michael Watford. He’s directed and managed global tours for some of the world’s biggest artists and still does today. Returning to production recently, SSO has released a plethora of productions and remixes on labels such as SoSure Music, Midnight Riot, Black Riot, Quantize, King Street, Groove Odyssey, IAH, Love To Be, and many more. 2025 looks like an exciting year as SSO gets set to launch his new Some Kind Of Disco label.
UK producer and DJ, Risk Assessment (aka Glyne Brathwaite) has been behind the decks since the early 1990s and has performed at Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Fabric, Miami Winter Music Conference, to name a few. In the early 2000’s he ran Rude Awakening Promotions, and after taking a break from the music scene in 2007, he remerged with his Risk Assessment project in 2014 and has since released on Stereo:type, Househead London, Reel People Music and more.
Raffaele Ciavolino is an Italian engineer with a strong passion for DJing and production. With a solid experience as DJ, he created his own path in the house scene over the years. Owner and founder of White Coffee Label, he has been successful as Jackin’ House artist with releases on the major labels in the genre.
Sonic Soul Orchestra and Daniel Thomas’ recent smash ‘Wake Up’ gets a brilliant make-over, featuring two remixes by Risk Assessment and Raffaele Ciavolino. Risk Assessment delivers one of his signature soulful grooves, armed with a potent 90’s vibe that builds momentum and energy, and injecting a punchy new hook whilst getting playful with Daniel Thomas’ vocals. Raffaele Ciavolino goes for a stripped down deeper mood, with a spacious affair peppered with atmospheric synth stabs and underpinned by lush warm groove, rounding off yet another stellar release for Motive Records!
