PREMIERE: Riddim Fernandez – Illusions

The Canadian label Woodwork Recordings is presenting ‘Slip Hop’, the first in a series of EPs from Riddim Fernandez.

High school professor in math and physics, instructor in rock climbing, and downhill biking, Riddim Fernandez was born in Barbados in the mid ‘70s and was raised in Toronto. His original productions have been published on labels such as Earthday Recordings, East Van Digital, and Squinty Bass Records.

‘Slip Hop’ EP is a collection of hearty dubs overflowing with vibe and mood. The overall effect of these tracks is utter chill-age, while the beats themselves are chunky and thick, with every element direct and purposeful.

We are presenting the fifth track ‘Illusions’, which is working beautifully by keeping sparse until the perfect moments, where Riddim Fernandez introduces hooks and parts that play only once or twice before moving to the next. The half / double time overlay occurs regularly on here in the percussion fills, the bass, and the vocals, resulting in a feel that is simultaneously laid back and pushing forward.

‘Slip Hop’ EP will be available after the 29th of February HERE.
