ultra rare is a trans-media platform wanting to showcase works situated at an “intersection”. The intersection of genres, mediums and identities.
ultra rare ambitions to be a home for artists challenging traditional boundaries through their work and own identities; a testimony of the cultural hybridisation and multi-polarisation defining our zeitgeist.
Initiated by musician and DJ u.r.trax, the desire to create a space for artistic expressions in her own image emerged as a necessity.
While the starting point of ultra rare is spreading sounds, it is also about blending them to other practices like visual/digital arts, writing, or coding when bringing them to life.
The inaugural release on the platform is ‘left the club, meet me at the post-club’, a compilation curated by u.r.trax that explores ethereal textures, deconstructed and freaky patterns, organic and mystical atmospheres. It is “résolument” post club. It features seven tracks from Hom, JLZ, Swaya, u.r.trax feat. L.FRX, Hugo Mesi, Le Kaiju, and L.FRX.
We are presenting a hyper mystical tribal gqom banger ‘TTTT’ from the Brazilian artist JLZ. The clash between the acoustic drums played and recorded by the artist and the amapiano-like bass locates the track at a very interesting spot on the music map. Organic, dark but super club friendly.
