VAST presents its second release, seven-track techno EP ‘Modality’ by Sleepy Cat, featuring two remixes from Declan James and Secus.
VAST is a new underground techno label project from Portland-based artist Spencer Hardwick, that is set to showcase a wide range of upcoming American talent and beyond, with a focus on raw, hypnotic sounds with analogue features, modular sounds and creative visions.
In its sophomore release, VAST Recordings explores the hypnotic depths of techno with the help of Sleepy Cat.
Sleepy Cat, who is an LA-based DJ and producer, is well-known within the city’s underground club scene. Having made an impact with his visceral live recordings and intense, immersive, hardware performances, he has an eclectic style and this release showcases a cerebral and hypnotic side of his sound following appearances on Secus’ Rituals and Orly Gal’s Hidden Symbols.
Consisting of five original tracks—‘Universal Harmonics’, ‘Observation’, ‘Isolate’, ‘Reconnect’, and ‘Modality’—along with remixes of ‘Isolate’ by Declan James and ‘Modality’ by Secus, Sleepy Cat’s ‘Modality’ EP is a perfect fit for VAST Recordings. In its crucial second release, the fledgling imprint proves itself capable of singing more than one proverbial tune without straying too far from the sound that has already captured the attention of artists like DJ Stingray, Wata Igarashi, and Charlotte De Witte.
We are presenting the fourth track, ‘Reconnect’.
‘Modality’ EP will be available after March 21st HERE.
