OMAKS: At the Verknipt Croatia, I intend to enjoy myself not only as a DJ but also as a raver

OMAKS, a young hard techno French DJ and producer, describes himself as someone who loves to push boundaries, and he intends to do just that during his first visit to Croatia at the inaugural edition of the Verknipt Croatia Holiday Festival, taking place from June 30th to July 4th at clubs and boat parties on Zrće Beach.

At the Croatian edition of Verknipt, the audience can expect two sets from him, but OMAKS is so excited about his first visit to our coast that besides performing, he can’t wait to rave with the crowd. Find out more about what he’s preparing and how he’s preparing in the following.

What have you prepared for your performance at the Verknipt Croatia Holiday Festival?

I prepared my best selection for these 2 sets at the Verknipt Croatia Holiday Festival! They will contain all my most famous tracks; but also unreleased I can’t wait for you to discover! Some of them will be part of the next EP release on a big label this year; so get ready to sweat a lot!!

What makes Verknipt special, why should every techno lover experience it?

Verknipt is super special because of their amazing stages, sound system and lights; astonishing production overall. The shows are always great as much for the artists and the audience. On a personal note, I love the hospitality and artist care there as well; it’s pleasant to have this awesome team around! For any artist, playing at Verknipt is a key step, and also an unforgettable one.

What can someone expect from the Verknipt Croatia Holiday Festival?

I feel it will be sea, sun and very good music all at once. Nice location alongside good artists and nice production can only lead to a very nice festival!

Have you ever been to Croatia before or have you experienced the Croatian summer? If yes, what did you like the most? If not, do you have any expectations?

I’ve never been to Croatia, so it will be a great first time. I expect a beautiful landscape and share a lot of good vibes and energy with the audience. It will be great for sure!

How do you prepare for a festival like this which has boat parties, day parties and night parties?

I personnel will be playing only at night; so I will mostly prepare my sets like the usual gigs! There maybe will be more summer vibes; I also will enjoy the day gigs as a raver and have my beach outfit ready!

How would you describe your style of mixing and producing?

Both for DJing and producing, I have trouble defining my style with only a word; or categorising it into a precise genre. I love to say that I focus on the energy the track delivers more than the style of it. It’s all about the emotion and sensations for me. I think the audience gets that too! If I had to describe some genres to someone who has never listened to me I would say a combination of Acid, HardTechno, HardTrance, Hardcore, Hardstyle, Industrial. You can see there are lots of “hard-something” but always combined with nice edits and emotional stuff to have a perfect balance! Regarding producing, I love to break down barriers; it can be reverse bass kicks; but also crazy screech; it’s often between 150 and 170 BPM! The key word is ENERGY!

Do you have any upcoming releases you can tell us about?

I’m currently working on a big project for this year: ‘MAD GONES’ is a collab EP with 4 talented producers from Lyon that I want you to discover. After 3 years living there, I’m moving back to Paris, and what is best than an EP to close this chapter?! I wanted to pay a tribute to this city & its producers; with a project 100% from there. I composed a track with each one of them; and it will be released before summer!

What are your plans for this summer?

Mostly daytime raving at festivals and also night gigs as usual. I intend to have fun with my audience and meet nice people; I can’t wait for this summer vibe to peak!

What are your festival essentials?

I always have a tote bag with me; lighter, sunglasses; usb stick… you never know if there’s someone to replace on the line up!!
