Underground techno practitioner M.F.S: Observatory looks to the future on latest EP, ‘Into The Matrix’. All six cuts find the Italian evolving his signature sound.
M.F.S: Observatory is the London-based alias of Mattia Turchetti, a studio mastermind who thrives on raw, deep sounds, crafting live beats and transcending the ordinary whenever he plays. His music has come on top labels like Second State, Complexed Records and Kneaded Pain. While he has played everywhere, from Helsinki to Italy and Berlin, his label has also become an internationally respected outlet for serious techno heads.
The EP opens with the deeply rooted and rolling techno funk of ‘Into the Matrix’ which is marbled with paranoid vocal whispers and mind-melting synths, then ‘Flue’ wraps rubbery basslines and supple kicks with menacing synths that ride up and down the scale and bring late-night darkness. The dubby, ice-cold ‘Braam’ is riddled with sci-fi signifiers and deep space synths and ‘Benedict’ brings some smart vocal loops and hard-edged techno drums to a high-octane cut. ‘Kyoto’ pairs jungle bird calls with punchy broken beats and pulsing synths, and ‘BendoBox’ closes with a light-footed minimal techno rhythm designed to hypnotise dancers.
We are presenting the title track ‘Into the Matrix’.
